In the theme of finding alternative shading techniques, I did this. I found a book that had some completed works by this artist, as well as a lot of his preliminary sketches and studies. So, I did studies of his studies. Since it was kind of simple, I did two.  :)

Yeah, I should really chase further this shading without using soft blended graphite or charcoal or such. I get results I like far better.
